Why I’m Running

I helped found and lead Friends of the Field, a group of some 300 concerned neighbors, to engage our ANC 3/4G regarding Maret School’s proposed development of athletic fields at the Episcopal Center for Children. It was a trying yet telling experience. We were never given a fair hearing; the ANC prioritized the voices and proposals of outside parties over our own.

I took away three things. First, the ANC’s decisions can significantly impact our quality of life and the integrity of our community. Second, our activism as citizens is critical to holding the ANC accountable. And third, the activity of joining with our neighbors in common cause is itself community-building and personally enriching.

I’m running to ensure our voices — your voices — are heard, to advance the interests of our neighborhood, and to help build community among us all.
